Police get powers in Sutton Coldfield to tackle trouble. Bans can last 48 hours.

They can move people they think are causing problems and these people could face a ban from the town center. The ban can last for up to 48 hours and this started Friday afternoon, Valentine’s Day, lasting until Sunday afternoon.
This order covers a pretty big area, including the Parade and the shopping area. It also goes up Birmingham Road, extending to the ‘Restaurant Quarter’ and cinema. The order reaches as far as Driffold in the south and goes to the train station up north, plus it stretches to Sutton Park’s edge.
The town center seemed calm Friday evening as kids walked home from school. Some couples had flowers, and people were going to dinner. One police van was seen on the Parade.
Police say they introduced these powers because of reports of bad behavior. They can move people involved in crime or being disruptive to help reduce issues in the town.
Sergeant Price said they won’t stand for the bad behavior, and they want to move on anyone causing issues. They will have extra officers there this weekend because police want people to feel safe.
