A serial shoplifter targeting Surrey shops while on probation has been sentenced to 16 months in jail.

Michael Davis is from Mitcham. Surrey Police arrested him and connected him to thefts in Epsom and Dorking. A court sentenced him on February 15, giving him 16 months in jail.
The court also charged Davis with violating an order from September 2024, which limited his actions. He also faced a charge for messing with a car, which took place in Croydon last November.
The order stopped him from entering certain stores and shops not taking money for items. He also couldn’t hide things in stores, nor could he touch cars without permission.
Police said he stole sunglasses from a Boots in Dorking last November. He then stole candy from a BP station in Croydon. In December, he stole sandwiches from a Co-Op and later, jackets from TK Maxx in Epsom.
A police commander hopes this helps the community and assures they won’t let shoplifting happen easily. They work with courts to target repeat offenders, who hurt local businesses.
