Plans resurface for a rail link connecting Surrey towns to Heathrow, boosted by expansion approval and potential private funding.

It would connect towns in Surrey to Heathrow. Trains would run between Heathrow and London Waterloo. Staines would be a stop on the line. Direct trains to Woking and Guildford are planned. They would go on to the south coast area.
The project includes extending the Elizabeth Line to Staines. Baroness Jo Valentine spoke about the project, leading the group backing the train. She thinks a third runway helps growth. The railway increases connections and cuts pollution.
These good things happen even without a new runway. She wants to work with other partners. Mark Livock is the chief executive of the project. He said the government wants private funding to help make big projects cheaper.
His group knows how to get private money involved. This improves rail access to Europe’s busiest airport. The group thinks it will mean fewer road trips, especially on the M25. The construction plans aim to limit impact.
Most of the route will be a tunnel. They will only use electric trains on this line. HSR will avoid level crossings in Egham.
