Police arrested two boys, ages 16 and 17, and a 15-year-old girl who faced attempted murder charges; however, their names are secret because of their age.
They pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm, a less serious charge, and the court accepted their pleas in December. The court sentenced them on February 7th. One teen got 52 months in detention, another got two years and two months, and the third got a rehabilitation order for a year.
All three teens have restraining orders and cannot contact the victim for eight years. Police said this behavior is unacceptable and they want to stop it, emphasizing that a knife can have awful consequences and carrying knives is never a good idea.
Police encouraged people to discuss knife dangers and asked them to report weapon carriers. Knives ruin lives, including families’ lives. People can report knife crimes to Northumbria Police online using social media, their website chat, or the report pages. If you cannot contact them online, call 101, and always call 999 in an emergency.
