A quick response from fire crews prevented injuries after a garage fire in Cheadle Hulme. Homes were evacuated.

Four fire trucks rushed to the scene. This happened on Redesmere Drive. It’s in Cheadle Hulme. A local noticed the fire first. This was around 11:15 am.
Meg Tubb, a neighbor, saw it unfold. She was taking bins out then. Their garages are connected. She is seventy-three years old.
She saw flames and black smoke. This was coming from the garage area. Meg ran and knocked for help. Her neighbor got out quickly. Luckily, the neighbor was alone. Meg felt very shocked by it all.
The fire damaged one garage badly. Walls blackened, debris piled up. The roof had a large hole. It almost collapsed as well.
Nobody got hurt during this event. The house mostly stayed safe. They evacuated other homes around it. This evacuation was done as a precaution.
Meg had to leave her house, too. She was gone for about two hours. She said fire crews were amazing. They got there fast, in ten minutes. Still, the heat cracked her back windows.
By early afternoon, they extinguished the fire. Fire investigators began working. They wanted to learn the cause. The officers wore masks and gear. They took pictures of all the damage. Then they carefully searched through the debris. Firefighters used hoses. Damaged items sat outside.
Authorities checked everything out carefully. They think it was an accident. Firefighters are still digging deeper though.
