Big changes are planned near Stafford’s train station, including homes, business spaces, and a new car park.

The government gave twenty million pounds. This money comes from the Levelling Up Fund. The borough council is working with partners, including Staffordshire County Council and Network Rail.
The money will help reclaim land, and land acquisition work progresses as planned. A council report with details is coming soon. Doxey Road land is now ready for building.
The county council owns land near the access route; this land used to house Universal Works. They must test the ground for contamination, and cleanup is needed before development can start.
Some groups need new locations. Community Link Stafford must move, and the council helps them find a new place. They also discuss a pedestrian walkway that goes to the station’s west side.
The station entrance is also getting better, but this project is separate from the Gateway. They will fix the concourse and add parking. The short-stay car park will be larger too, and the work should finish in the spring.
The improved station should impress visitors. Victoria Park is also nearby and attractive. Together, they will make a good first impression because the railway station is the first experience for many.
