TikTok star Spudman is being moved from his St Editha’s Square pitch after 22 years so the council can install a flowerbed.

The Tamworth Council confirmed Spudman’s move, saying he would be just a few meters away. Spudman posted a video on Friday, February 14, expressing that he feels he has lost his spot to a flowerbed. He showed a plan of the area in his video, emphasizing, “I’ve stood there for 22 years,” and that he bought that spot in 2003.
The council offered him a new location, but he does not want to move and wants his original pitch back. He stated his business grew there, adding that he feels very upset about the situation. His fans quickly offered their support, and some suggested starting an online petition.
Council leader Carol Dean responded to Spudman’s video, mentioning they value small businesses like The Spudman. The council is redeveloping St Editha’s Square, and Spudman, along with other traders, moved temporarily. All traders will return after work finishes.
The square’s layout will change slightly, and Spudman gets a space near a monument, only a few meters from his old spot. The council owns St Editha’s Square, and traders have licenses to operate there. They look forward to the square reopening.
Spudman may hold another event soon, and the council supports him in planning it, ensuring his plans follow all legal rules. Visitor safety is important to them. The new college on the square will increase foot traffic, with over a thousand more people visiting daily, which should help all town center businesses.
