Two sets of parents spoke on TV, their first public appearance since losing their daughters in a knife attack in Southport last summer. Bebe King was six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe was seven.

Bebe’s parents wish to remain anonymous. Jenni and David Stancombe, Elsie Dot’s parents, talked to Good Morning Britain, describing their daughters lovingly as happy, confident, and kind.

Alice da Silva Aguiar’s parents aren’t ready to speak but support Bebe and Elsie Dot’s families in sharing their stories.

Bebe’s mom expressed deep love for her daughter, describing her as mighty, strong, and very kind. She wants everyone to remember Bebe for who she was and believes she embodied joy.

Elsie’s mom echoed similar sentiments, saying Elsie didn’t know bad things and was fearless. Elsie’s dad added that she was brave. Elsie’s mom said Elsie would think Taylor knew her, this made all dreams true.

Elsie’s mom, having met the Prime Minister, now supports a public inquiry to hold people accountable for decisions that allowed this to happen. She emphasized the need for children to be safe. Elsie’s parents want the inquiry to also examine Prevent, the anti-terror scheme, which they believe failed to stop the attacker. Elsie’s dad questioned Prevent and said the system doesn’t work well enough.

The parents also spoke of the trauma from the court proceedings, expressing their dislike for the live sentencing broadcast. Bebe’s father felt it was excessive, arguing that the trial needed to be in court but not televised, deeply affecting them.

Despite their grief, they honored their daughters, speaking of their lasting impact. Bebe’s mom hopes Bebe continues to impact the world, protecting future children and moving mountains.

Elsie’s mom expressed gratitude for the great support, love, and support from the town. They have established Elsie’s Story charity. While acknowledging they won’t feel true joy again, they hope Elsie does and will make children elsewhere smile to honor Elsie.
