A man is fighting for his life after a suspected attempted murder in Southend. Police are investigating and have made an arrest.

Officers got to the scene quickly, responding to a 5 AM call about an injured man. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital, where his condition is very serious. Police learned the man was hurt on Stadium Road and found a woman there too.
She also had injuries, but not life-threatening ones, and is getting care at a hospital. A 21-year-old man from Southend got arrested, suspected of attempted murder.
He is in custody now, answering police questions. Police think everyone knew each other. Essex Police’s Serious Crime Directorate is investigating, with Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding leading the investigation.
Balding said their priority is to learn what happened and wants people with info to contact them. Police will be in the area, visible and asking questions around Greyhound Way and Stadium Road. There is a cordon in place now.
