A six-story building with nine flats may be built. Horizon Homes wants to build near Stockwood Road, near the Bath Road park. They once wanted a bigger building with 58 flats.
These flats will be next to Orchard House, an old office that recently became housing. Plans have balconies, and a roof terrace is also planned.
Architects say the project helps by adding needed two-bedroom homes. Each flat has outdoor space, and its design fits with the area. It’s near transport and shops.
Flats might replace an old health center on St John’s Lane, across from a school. They plan 36 “affordable” flats. The health center moved in 2018.
Demolition has happened, and the developers already have permission. Now, they seek confirmation it went ahead legally.
Offices downtown could become flats. St Nicholas House sits on High Street, right by Castle Park. Developers want to change the six-stories high building to allow for 20 studio flats.
The ground floor would still be commercial. It was a Bank of England branch. Before that, the Angel Tavern stood there, before a bomb damaged it in World War Two.
Huge gas pipes might be built, running from Avonmouth docks to storage in Hallen. The pipes move liquid gas from the port to the terminal, then sent elsewhere.
The plans include loading arms for tanker ships to unload with, plus a control kiosk. Currently, gas travels by road. The project is mostly approved. Now, they need the finer points okayed.
