Plans submitted for 24 homes in South Bank, Middlesbrough, promising a sustainable location near essential amenities.

Arkley Homes wants to build these houses. They say it’s a good spot because shops are close. You can easily walk to jobs and schools. Health services are also nearby.
The area already has many homes. ELG Planning said each plot gets three bedrooms. They plan to split twelve homes on both land areas. Planners reduced the number of homes by one. This allows more space to nearby houses. The prior OK means homes can be built there.
Each house would get one parking space. This meets local guidelines for parking. Less parking is OK if buses are good. Footpaths and bikes also help with parking needs. Public parking can make up the difference.
The site is easy to get around. That earlier OK noted this fact. Having one space means houses can line up. This looks like other homes there. Each house will also have landscaping.
Most trees stay safe under these plans. Five “okay quality” trees must go. These must go to make way for parking spots. The new houses will look like the old ones.
They will use similar materials in the area. The plan fits the area’s look and feel. It keeps good features and fixes issues. One neighbor questioned the parking spots amount.
Schools need more room too, they commented. They added that building shouldn’t happen without upgrades. Planners must still approve these plans.
