Elaine owns World of Bears in Taunton. She has run it since 2004. A fox toy had a tiny party hat, celebrating the shop’s twentieth year. A worker liked the hats on the bears.
Someone thought the toys had birthdays. Elaine laughed and said they don’t.
World of Bears sells many kinds of stuffed animals. You find tigers, bears, dogs, and cats. They also have less common animals.
They sell cute rats and bats as plush toys. Also available: crocodiles, snakes, and even tarantulas. A cozy bat in a wheelbarrow looked nice.
Elaine watched kids grow up in her shop. Some came in 2004 with their parents. They still visit now as adults. She said time goes by fast.
Her shop comforted people during the 2020 lockdown. Her website got very busy then. People wanted a cuddly friend during isolation.
The shop has made Taunton famous. It is unique and ahead of other shops. People travel far to visit it. It’s a destination store now.
