Cheddar pub seeks camera to manage parking, stop abuse. ANPR system and pay machines planned for the Bath Arms Hotel car park.

They plan to install an ANPR camera, and pay-and-display machines will be added too. This is for the car park behind the Bath Arms Hotel, which has sixty-two spaces.
The camera will record license plates and track when cars enter and leave. It will issue tickets if parking time is exceeded, though the pub says parking is free for customers. The planning application mentions car park abuse.
ParkingEye wants to install this system, which will use ANPR cameras. Signs and pay machines will also be installed. These will monitor vehicles entering and exiting, which they believe should prevent car park misuse.
The ANPR camera goes on the hotel wall, watching the car park entrance and exit. The camera will be small and designed for minimal environmental impact. The parking area already exists, so it won’t change much.
The statement says the system boosts car park use and can reduce current misuse. Somerset Council planners decide the plan’s fate, and will do so later.
