Somerset National Trust Spring Events Packed with Activities for All

Hey, guess what’s happening in Somerset? The National Trust has tons of events this spring. They want people to visit gardens and old houses. You can find events for all ages.

Lots of places have Easter trails, including Barrington Court, Dunster Castle, and Montacute House. Lytes Cary Manor also has one. Coleridge Cottage needs help with a tea party, while Fyne Court has a woodland trail to explore. Prior Park will host a wheelbarrow race, and there’s even egg-decorating there!

Dunster Castle has living history on May 13-14, showcasing English Civil War life, including musket firing and weapon demos. The Luttrell Psalter plays April 23-24, using old instruments to recreate music from the past in the castle hall.

You can also see hidden areas, such as the attic and kitchen at Dunster Castle. Lytes Cary Manor opens its West Wing May 21-22. Prior Park has garden walks, or you can visit Dunster Castle, where the head gardener will be there on April 2.

Stourhead features watercolor workshops for creating botanical art. Tyntesfield offers woodworking, teaching you to make a Windsor chair or Celtic stool. Fyne Court presents “The Three Musketeers” on May 3, an outdoor play.

Explore bumblebees May 11 at Lytes Cary Manor, where experts will search for the rare Shrill Carder bee. At Tyntesfield, “Bird” is running from May 1-June 29, a sound installation addressing nature loss.

See spring flowers in April at a festival at Lytes Cary Manor and Tintinhull Garden. Lytes Cary Manor also hosts local art May 10-11, while Stourhead makes Easter wreaths April 15-16.
