Somerset Council wants to improve the A38 road. It’s working with North Somerset Council. They hope to get government money for it. The A38 goes from M5 Junction 22 to Colliters Way.

The A38 is often very busy, which causes slow travel, unsafe conditions, and hurts local businesses. The councils want to fix these problems and hope to reduce traffic and improve safety. Access to public transport also needs help.

The plans also aim to boost the economy and help future housing projects. Changes are planned for Edithmead Roundabout, which should improve traffic flow there.

Rooksbridge might get new road markings as part of a safety project. Cross could have a staggered junction, and a safer crossing is planned at Shute Shelve. They want to upgrade bus stops along the way. Pedestrian and cycling paths will also be improved.

The public gave feedback in 2021, and the plans changed after that. Now, the council wants more feedback, especially for travel options.

The consultation is open to everyone, and people can share their ideas now. This helps finalize the improvement plans. Then, the councils ask the government for money.
