A plan for 95 homes in Catherine-de-Barnes faces final approval after initial green light, sparking local concerns about overdevelopment.

Solihull planners approved a plan for 95 homes last September. Cala (Cotswolds) Limited and Minton Care made the application. The location is Oak Farm, on Hampton Lane. People feel the area is already overdeveloped.
The council approved the plan with some rules attached. Now, the developers want those rules signed off. One rule involves an archaeological evaluation. The application number for this is PL/2025/00238/DIS.
A consultation is happening right now. You can comment until March 12. A parish councillor said the new homes are too many; it’s a huge increase for the small village.
The agent said the homes are needed. She emphasized affordable housing for the area. One councillor said they must build more houses. She predicted more green belt applications in the future.
The planning committee approved the initial plan unanimously. Solihull planners must still approve the detailed plans. Only then can construction begin.
