Solihull approved a plan for new houses. They will tear down a 1950s barn for this project. The location is Heron Bank Farm in Berkswell. Mr. Hicken is the applicant for this project. He submitted the plan in November.

The plan involves building two semi-detached homes. Each home will be a single-story property. The new building will sit where the barn is now, and outside space and parking are included. The design will match the area’s farm style.

The barn was built between 1958 and 1963. Farmers used it for poultry until 1985. Later, they grew mushrooms there until 1998. After that, the building has been mostly used for general storage and has been mostly empty.

Council officers said the plan benefits the area, believing this outweighs any harm to the green belt. The built area will actually get smaller, which will improve the green belt’s openness. Mark Andrews approved the homes on February 24 with some conditions attached.
