A new family-run tapas restaurant, So Salsa, is set to open in Liverpool’s Bold Street, taking over the old Smiffys location.

Smiffys used to be a big deal. The shop closed back in November. It was there for over 20 years. Now, it will become a tapas place.
This restaurant is family-run. They started fixing the place up in December. So Salsa announced their plans on Facebook. The restaurant already has locations elsewhere.
They are in Crosby, and Blackstock Market, plus Castle Street. So Salsa hopes to open on Bold Street in spring 2025. The owner is Andrew Peters.
He wants to sell alcohol from 11 AM to midnight. This would be every day. They also want to play music. The music would be from 11 AM to 11 PM.
So Salsa is part of a group. They own Tree House and Rock Salt, too. Both are restaurants in Crosby. The Castle Street location opened in 2022.
They serve Spanish food there. Think meatballs, paella, and potatoes. You can also get steak and chorizo.
Smiffys closed after problems. The company had tough times. COVID hurt their business a lot. They sell costumes and party stuff.
The business was 130 years old. Smiffys said they were sad to close. They thanked Liverpool for having them. They knew it would affect their team. It was a hard reality. They shut down November 9.
