Residents lament rising trash levels, citing health risks from dumped items and increased rat presence.

Raw meat is also dumped. Rats appear often due to the trash. Olivia Wileman lives in Sneinton. She says it’s gotten worse over nine years. The council does not clean many areas anymore.
Trash piles up and causes health problems. Wileman cleaned up waste and glass. She also found needles and diapers. Few recycling spots may cause this. Wileman helps with Nottingham Clean Champions.
They pick up litter monthly. Other groups also fight litter in Sneinton. Wileman felt sad seeing litter. She knows the council lacks funds. Leaving it like this is awful, she says.
Residents told Nottinghamshire Live about the trash before. The council put up cameras. They watched for illegal dumping. One resident said the cameras helped. But they moved the cameras.
The problem returned, she claims. She saw people dump trash around the corner. They are too lazy, she thinks. Animals rip open the bags. Rats are a big problem. She spends money on rat poison.
The rats come back with more trash. Dirty diapers are left out. People cannot walk on the path. It is hard for disabled people. Parents with strollers struggle too. Another resident praised the binmen.
They clean a lot, she noted. But trash returns the next day. Someone dumped a TV outside her house. An old bathtub sits down the road. Trash bags stay for weeks. It is getting out of hand.
The council collects large waste items. People must book it early. It costs £25 for six items. Beds and chairs are included. Electrical items cost extra. They cost £12 for one item. Then it is £7.50 each. NottinghamshireLive asked the council for their view.
