Hickory’s Smokehouse is opening a new restaurant in Cardiff this autumn, creating 100 jobs.
They already have restaurants in Rhos on Sea and Wrexham. These restaurants are doing really well. This Cardiff restaurant will be their first in South Wales. The company began in Cheshire.
Hickory’s serves American BBQ. They are known for their smoked brisket tacos. Memphis-style ribs are also a popular dish, and they also have burgers with a special twist. The owners took a trip to the American South, visiting states like Texas and South Carolina.
The first Hickory’s Smokehouse opened in Chester back in 2010. This was a year after their US road trip. They have opened branches in the Midlands and Yorkshire. They also have locations here in Wales now.
The restaurant is opening in The Melrose Inn pub building. The pub plans to close this June. Hickory’s will open the new branch in the autumn, and they will create one hundred jobs at the new spot.
A Hickory’s spokesperson said they are excited. Cardiff has been on their radar for a while. They are happy to open their first restaurant there; it will also be their first in South Wales. They have two other restaurants in North Wales.
The new restaurant will be at the old Melrose Inn. They know Welsh customers love BBQ food. They will get to know the local area. They want this place to be truly special.
The business looks forward to joining the community. They are hiring chefs, servers, and bartenders. Managers are also needed for the new Cardiff restaurant. They also support current team members.
