A Leicester charity helps homeless people. They want people to sleep outside for one night, an event called The Big Sleep. This raises money and awareness, highlighting homelessness in the city.

People sleep outside to understand homeless challenges. This money supports the charity’s work, enabling them to give breakfast and lunch. People can also get showers, clothing, and toiletries, and washing and drying facilities are available too.

The funds further support case workers who help with housing and benefit advice. They connect people to doctors and dentists, and offer mental health support. Arts, music, sports, and film clubs exist, and one-on-one mentoring is also available.

The charity’s leader says demand is very high and 2025 will be even harder. The Big Sleep helps them assist vulnerable people, so he asks for support. People can sleep out or sponsor volunteers.

Heidelberg Materials, Dupli, Howes Percival, and Shoe Zone are sponsors. One person says their employees will sleep out and they gather sponsorships now.

Many volunteered at the charity last year, and they will help again in 2025. The company donates items to help the center and they hope to improve lives and raise awareness.

The Big Sleep starts March 25 at 8 PM at Leicester University. You must be 18 or older to join, and groups or individuals can participate. People can sponsor someone if they can’t sleep out.
