Council buys precinct to revitalize Uttoxeter’s High Street. Improvements planned for entrances and pedestrian access.

The council reached a deal with Systemshare Ltd. It’s all about getting land ready on High Street. They want to improve it in the future. They bought the old Co-op building last year. They already owned some other land there, too.
Paul Walker said he’s very happy about it. He said the deal happened smoothly. He hopes everyone in Uttoxeter is excited. They plan to fix up the Maltings area. The goal is an inviting entrance to High Street.
Malcolm Barrett from Systemshare Ltd supports the council’s ideas. He thinks it’s a win for Uttoxeter. He supports their plans fully moving forward.
The council is creating long-term plans to fix up the Maltings and they’re checking out different ways to do it. They plan to work with the current shops in 2025 and 2026, wanting to make some quick improvements people will see.
The updates include fixing the Bradley Street toilets, and they will also make it easier to walk between places, like High Street, bus station, and car park. They will add better lights and places to sit, more plants and trees, and they may knock some of the precinct down.
The council will share final plans later. All these upgrades should improve the town center, and this improvement should happen while they plan bigger changes.
