Demolition starts at Greenside Shopping Centre in Droylsden for a major redevelopment project by New-Era.

Tameside Council said it is okay to knock them down. New-Era owns the shopping centre. They want to remove those empty shops and the demolition will start at the Coral site. It will extend to where Poundstretcher used to be. Other stores like Iceland and B&M will stay open.
After they tear down the shops, they will add gravel. This surface will stay until they start building again. This demolition fits into New-Era’s bigger plan and they picture a vibrant town. They hope Droylsden becomes a great place.
New-Era wants to build homes in the Concord building. They also plan to rebuild the shops nearby. A spokesperson spoke about their overall vision. New-Era sees a unique chance for change. Most problem areas are under council control, therefore, they think they can deliver results fast.
Unlike long plans for other towns, Droylsden can improve quickly. New-Era wants to work with the council. Their plan covers the shopping center and Concord site. It also includes land by the marina and Lazy Toad pub. They want better connections to other areas.
New-Era thinks adding housing will boost businesses and they spoke about building apartments near Beehive Mill. This change should help Droylsden thrive.
