A shisha lounge and restaurant could open in a former Preston showroom. Concerns are raised regarding kitchen smells.

Shisha is flavored tobacco, often smoked socially. The planned venue will include both designated smoking and eating areas. Mocktails will also be served.
The lounge is planned for the ground floor of Kevin Roper Interiors. The company is relocating their showroom to nearby Bold Street this year.
According to assessments, kitchen smells are a greater concern than shisha smoke, particularly for nearby residents. “Appropriate mitigation” is needed in the kitchen to reduce any possible impact to “an acceptable level.” The shisha smell is not considered a significant problem.
Noise was initially a concern for some residents living on the building’s first floor. Improvements to windows and a noise limiter are planned to keep impacts minimal.
