Fences and CCTV coming to Oakwood Mill in Stalybridge after repeated vandalism and structural damage, says Casey Group.

This Victorian mill is historic. It was built way back in the 1850s. The mill has been empty since the early 2000s, and parts of it have collapsed over time. A section burned down in the 1990s.
Another collapse happened in 2018. The owners, Casey Group Ltd, blame vandalism and keep kicking out people who sneak in. The trespassers worsen the mill’s condition.
Oakwood Mill used to be very important; first was the Staly Mill Company, then the Bleaching Company used it. Now, things are in bad shape, but the Casey Group wants to help.
They need to fix the fences and buildings. The Casey Group says people keep breaking in, and neighbors report the issues often. They need security to stop it now.
Tameside Council agreed with the Casey Group. Fences and cameras got approved and will be on Grenville Street. Repair work keeps things safer, and they plan to rebuild it later.
