North Seaton residents celebrate a £1 million Postcode Lottery win. Neighbors share joy and plan to help family.

Each household with postcode NE63 9YW won £250,000. Lesley Hogg, 57, and her husband Robin, 56, were among the winners. Judie McCourt delivered the exciting news to them, and Lesley cried and screamed for three minutes.
Lesley had never imagined winning such a large sum. She only imagined winning about £30,000. The sight of all those zeros left her amazed, and this money, arriving at the perfect time, is incredibly important to them. They can now provide more support to Lesley’s parents and their daughter.
Furthermore, they are planning a well-deserved vacation. Santorini is high on their list as they have never been there before.
David and Valerie Evans, both 79, are another winning couple. David expressed his joy at sharing the win with their neighbors. They intend to discuss how to best utilize the money, with assisting their daughter being a strong possibility. They might also contribute to their grandsons’ housing or college expenses.
David noted the unusual timing of this windfall later in life. They have already enjoyed good jobs and a good life. Now, their desire is to share the benefits of this win with others.
Mick Turner, 84, accepted the prize on behalf of his wife, Lovaine. She is currently recovering from hip surgery in the hospital. They joined the lottery because their friends David and Valerie were already participants.
Lovaine jokingly said she didn’t want him winning alone. She’ll likely tease their neighbors about it. Mick initially found it hard to believe, stating he double-checked the amount. He expressed a wish to be younger to enjoy it more fully.
The remaining funds from the lottery will benefit several local charities. These organizations include Mortal Fools, Full Circle Food Project, YMCA Northumberland, and Escape Family Support Group.
