Council tax is rising across Scotland! Twenty-five councils approved it, and seven more will make final decisions this week.

East Lothian announced their rise two weeks ago. Edinburgh, Fife, and Glasgow did too. The Borders and North Lanarkshire also made announcements. Their increases range from 7.5 to 10 percent. Last Tuesday was busy; four councils voted. The Western Isles, Midlothian, and Shetland decided. West Lothian also set its rate. These also ranged from 7.5 to 10 percent.
East Renfrewshire approved its rise last Wednesday. Moray, North Ayrshire, and Perth also made decisions. Kinross and South Lanarkshire confirmed their rates too. South Lanarkshire rose the least, six percent.
Thursday saw the most announcements. Aberdeenshire and Angus voted on rates. Argyll, Bute, and Clackmannanshire also decided. Dumfries, Galloway, and Dundee did too. East Ayrshire and Renfrewshire followed suit. South Ayrshire and Stirling had meetings as well. Clackmannanshire rose by 13 percent.
Orkney met this Tuesday, March 4th. They may have the highest rise, fifteen percent. Aberdeen City meets this Wednesday, March 5th. West Dunbartonshire also plans to meet then. Aberdeen could raise taxes by eleven percent.
East Dunbartonshire meets this Thursday, March 6th. Falkirk, Highland, and Inverclyde also meet then. Falkirk might increase taxes by 13.7 percent.
