New report reveals Scotland’s areas with the highest crime rates Glasgow Dundee and Edinburgh are among the top.

Glasgow has the highest crime rate, at 830 crimes per 10,000 people, while the national average is 543. Glasgow reported 52,476 crimes, a four percent increase from last year. Violent crimes totaled 12,205 and dishonesty crimes numbered 18,975. Sexual crimes were also reported, with 2,223 cases.
Dundee has the second-highest crime rate, 775 per 10,000 residents. Dundee reported 11,655 crimes in total; This shows an eleven percent decrease. There were 2,760 violent crimes, while dishonesty crimes reached 4,808. Sexual crimes happened 466 times, and crimes against society totaled 1,914.
Edinburgh’s crime rate is third highest, at 718 per 10,000 people. The city reported 37,590 total crimes, a nine percent increase. Violent crimes totaled 7,268, dishonesty crimes numbered 19,060, and sexual crimes saw 1,289 reports. Crimes against society accounted for 5,816.
West Dunbartonshire and Aberdeen City follow, with rates of 658 and 627 crimes per 10,000 residents, respectively. Other areas in the top ten include North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, and East Ayrshire. West Lothian and Dumfries and Galloway complete the top ten list.
