A big fire damaged St Athan Primary School. This happened yesterday, Wednesday. The school is in the Vale of Glamorgan. Emergency crews went to the school quickly.

The fire forced kids to leave. Smoke went up high, and the school will stay closed. This is because firefighters are still there. That’s what Rob Thomas said, who leads the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The fire stayed in one room, the ICT suite. Firefighters reacted fast, and nobody got hurt, thankfully. This made the situation less bad, Thomas said.

Five fire crews arrived with special tools. The school will check the damage with the council. The fire service will assist too.

The council will tell parents about school for the rest of the week. Thomas was glad no one got hurt. He mentioned this after the fire news.

Staff knew what to do. They used emergency plans fast, and the fire service arrived quickly also. Thomas thanked everyone for their help, and he said the town appreciates it.

The fire service got the call at 11:48 am. They sent five fire trucks and water trucks. Expert officers came too, to control the fire, which is now in one small area. The area includes classrooms plus the ICT suite.

Firefighters are checking the roof, where the fire is thought to have started. They want to stop it from spreading. About 240 people left safely, including kids, teachers, and builders. Nobody reported injuries.

They are figuring out how the fire began. They are working with the school. Council staff have plans, and they will share information on these plans soon.
