Fire broke out at Jimmy Savile’s former Highland home in Glencoe. An investigation is underway; no injuries reported.

Emergency services rushed to the scene quickly. Nobody got hurt in the fire, thankfully. The cause of the fire remains unknown right now. The A82 road closed during the firefighting, but it has now reopened between Tyndrum and Ballachulish.
Police Scotland confirmed the road’s reopening today. They are still figuring out exactly what happened. The house belonged to Jimmy Savile, who was later revealed as a sex offender.
Savile lived there from 1998 until he died. The bungalow is in Glencoe near the Three Sisters. The building decayed after his death in 2011 and was vandalized with hateful words on the walls.
The house had collapsed ceilings and broken walls. Savile may have abused victims there. Councillors decided to tear down the building, which was later sold at auction for £212,000.
The family of Harris Aslam then bought it for £335,000. He owns Eros Retail. Plans to rebuild faced some initial opposition; however, they got approval last year and it will become a four-bedroom home.
The new house will honor Dr. Hamish MacInnes. He was another former owner of the cottage. MacInnes was a famous Scottish mountaineer, known as the “father of mountain rescue” in Scotland.
