Nurse Sandie Peggie’s case against NHS Fife is paused. A final resolution is expected by summer.

Sandie was suspended after she questioned a transgender doctor’s presence in the women’s changing area. This occurred at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.
The case gained national attention in the UK. People wondered about the health board’s gender policy and questioned if it was lawful, since not law.
Many supporters gathered in Dundee to support Sandie, holding banners adorned with supportive messages, including one with a funny phrase.
The doctor in question is Beth Upton, formerly named Theodore. Upton hasn’t legally changed genders, is male biologically, and lacks a gender recognition certificate.
A video shared online showed a piper playing, prompting people to praise the show of support and admire Sandie’s dignity. The bagpiper was David Spiers, who called himself a “gender critical piper.”
Sandie’s daughter, Nicole, posted thanks to everyone for supporting her mom. She said her mom was suspended after a 2023 event on Christmas Eve and felt alone because colleagues agreed but stayed silent, despite not offering support. She’s been suspended since January.
