£8M plan to prevent repeat of Storm Dennis floods. Project includes new pipelines, upgrades and will take several years.

The council got £800,000 to get started on the work. Council leader Andrew Morgan called the plan “huge” too. The project will take several years to finish.
They will collect rainwater from higher areas of Pentre. This water will go through new underground pipes. Morgan said design work takes roughly eighteen months, service diversions should be done in twelve months, and building will be done in phases over the remaining 24 months. Some of these steps might occur simultaneously.
Morgan mentioned this project is a big deal for the council. Treorchy has another major project, too. Pentre got badly flooded during Storm Dennis five years ago.
Since the storm, the council has done quite a bit. Think water course surveys and drainage checks. They even made a flood risk plan, fixed things near Pentre Road, and made upgrades at Lewis Street and Volunteer Street.
Local Councillor Norman Morgan is very happy about the project funding. He thanked everyone who helped get the money, and added Pentre is safer because of the council’s investments.
