Former vicar Brian Pearce is being remembered for his service to his community in South Bristol and beyond. He passed away at age unknown.

The community celebrated his life earlier this week. A special service happened on Monday, February 24. It took place at St Thomas the Martyr Church in Monmouth. Brian had pulmonary fibrosis for years.
He died on January 14. His wife, Margaret, was with him. Brian’s son, John Pearce, spoke about his father. John owns Pearce Funeral Services in Swindon.
He knew Brian mattered to many people. This was important when planning the funeral. The family invited everyone to the service. Brian was vicar at Withywood Church from 1991.
He then moved to All Saints in Fishponds. He also worked in Birmingham and Swindon. Brian was a canon at Bristol Cathedral. A message honored Brian on a website.
It called him a modest man with a big heart. He served God and his community. He wouldn’t want so much attention. Meeting him once left a lasting impact. The message continued, describing his impact.
He empowered, comforted, inspired, and loved people. He did it all in God’s name. He may not have realized how many he touched. Brian’s eldest son, Andrew Pearce, also spoke.
He said the family is thankful. They appreciate the love and support. It was given to his parents, especially recently. He hopes everyone finds peace knowing Brian is at rest. In his final moments, Brian prayed with Margaret.
They recited the Lord’s Prayer together. This showed their deep faith. They shared this faith throughout their life.
