Retired Guide Dogs Visit Eldon Square to Recruit Charity Volunteers

Eldon Square had special visitors today. Kenny and Heidi, retired guide dogs, came to visit. The Guide Dogs charity staff joined them. They wanted to raise awareness about their work and encouraged people to volunteer.

The dogs visited the Newcastle shopping center, where people could meet them and take photos to share online. This event showcased volunteers’ impact on the lives of people with sight loss, whom the volunteers help.

Guide Dogs needs volunteers in the North East, especially puppy raisers. Puppy raisers provide homes for young dogs, helping them gain confidence and teaching them how to obey commands.

Fosterers are also vital to the process. They care for dogs briefly while the dogs get advanced training at a local center.
