Council plans to cut recycling centre opening days to save £200,000 annually, sparking fears of increased illegal dumping.

Bodmin, Bude, and Connon Bridge are on the list for potential reduced hours. Helston, Newquay, and Redruth may also change, along with St Day, Tintagel, and Truro. These centers currently operate seven days a week, but plans would drop them to only five.
Launceston, Saltash, St Austell, Falmouth and St Erth recycling centers will remain open for now. These may change later after more review, but all recycling centers will stay open weekends.
An independent councilor spoke about several cuts to other services. Services for teens might see changes, and support for abuse victims could shrink. Help for missing kids faces cuts, and the handy-person service is at risk too. He questioned the council’s reputation.
Council leader Linda Taylor said decisions impacting services are based on need. She stated that statutory requirements drive these choices.
