Firefighters tackled a large blaze at a Darlaston recycling centre. Residents were advised to close windows as a precaution.

Six engines came first. They were from different towns like Willenhall, Walsall and Bilston. Wednesbury, Bloxwich, and Tipton also responded. This happened around 9:30 PM on February 20.
More fire engines arrived later. The fire involved a lot of scrap metal; about 200 tonnes of waste caught fire in a recycling yard’s waste area.
People nearby had a warning to keep doors and windows shut. This was a precaution during the fire. Firefighters wore special breathing gear, and they were putting the fire out quickly.
Drones helped the firefighters. High-volume pumps supported their work, and they also used a hydraulic platform. At its peak, fifty firefighters were there with nine fire engines and the platform.
Workers helped spread the metal to find the hot spots. Police were there managing the road. They closed Bentley Road South, but it reopened, and nobody got hurt from the fire.
The fire got smaller around 12:50 AM. They fully put it out by 3:20 AM, then firefighters checked it twice. They confirmed all hotspots were gone, and the site manager took over after that.
