Irwell Works Brewery shared the news on Facebook about Phil. They called him a massive asset as he organized their black pudding event. He loved motorbikes and gardening. His sunflowers were extremely tall. He was a very kind person who loved his rescue dog, Indie.

The Facebook post got many comments with people calling Phil a true gentleman who helped others and stepped up. Someone described him as caring and unselfish. Another person praised his integrity and said people will miss his love for animals. Kelly said the tributes comfort her and she is touched by the love for her dad.

Phil was born in Whitefield in 1952. He went to boarding school at age eleven. Later, he lived in Chelsea and worked for the World Bank as a courier. He traveled worldwide with bags, going to many places, like New York and Cairo. He moved to Ramsbottom when his grandparents did.

He then worked in engineering at Kelloggs. Later, he managed local properties as a landlord and helped start the black pudding throwing event. People throw puddings at Yorkshire puddings on a tall stand. The event occurs every year and attracts hundreds of visitors.

Kelly said it’s good to know others loved him. She plans to tell people she loves them more often.
