Michael Chippendale, age 38, went to jail. The court sentenced him in Manchester. He was arrested for a violent act that happened inside a local shop. Chippendale threw a vodka bottle which hit his love rival’s face.

Chippendale told the police about the victim, claiming the man was with his partner. He grabbed vodka from the shop shelf and threw it at the other man’s head. The attack made the victim lose two teeth.

The victim had parked his bike outside and went into the shop after fishing. Chippendale attacked him in the store on July 28th last year. There was a verbal argument first, and the victim hid under a counter for safety.

Despite this, Chippendale threw the vodka bottle. The victim was on the floor, hurt, and Chippendale told him he would finish him off. He later sent a message warning the victim to avoid crossing him.

The victim shared a statement in court explaining that he lost two teeth because of the assault. This badly impacted his daily life causing his confidence to decrease significantly. He avoided appointments and work, then also struggled to sleep or eat well.

The victim still needs dental work and has had to change his eating habits. Chippendale had prior convictions including 24 offences across 18 cases. These involved assault, stalking, and weapons. He was already under a suspended sentence.

His lawyer argued that the victim’s teeth were already damaged, but the Judge did not accept this. After reviewing the video of the attack, the Judge stated that Chippendale’s actions were wrong. Chippendale pleaded guilty to the crime.

The judge said alcohol played a role in the attack and warned Chippendale about his behavior. The Judge also warned that further offenses would mean immediate prison time. Chippendale lived on Cannon Street in Radcliffe.

He admitted causing the injury, and the court jailed him for 11 months. He also received a three-year restraining order, which prevents him from contacting the victim.
