Quad Bike Thugs Destroy Edinburgh Football Pitches
Hutchinson Vale Football Club cancelled matches that six-year-olds were supposed to play, after the group damaged the turf on Thursday. Tam Smith, the chairman for Hutchison Vale, said the damage is disappointing.
Pitch five took the worst hit, where they had scheduled a tournament for this weekend. Now, they must find another plan.
One brave woman challenged the riders using strong language. Sue Hildersley saw them doing doughnuts and filmed two quads with riders.
Sue confronted them, asking what they did, but they raced around her. Turf went flying toward her as she walked to see her horse, initially thinking someone cut the grass.
Sue then realized it was quad bikes. She filmed, hoping they would leave; however, they didn’t care at all. Sue feels strongly about the park damage, and it made her very angry.
The youths terrorized people in the Meadows before, tearing up turf and causing damage in the early morning; this occurred on Thursday, February 20.
Police received a report about the bikes around 8:50 am on Thursday. Officers went to Saughton Park but found no vehicles there.
The youths looked like late teens. Sue loves the park very much and said the riders made a mess, feeling this all was too much for her, and she is very furious about it.
