Road closures in Putney begin for final resurfacing work to ease traffic congestion. Work is scheduled at night.

Road closures around Putney Bridge happen at night. Work is from February 24 to March 4. The council will resurface roads, and they plan painting at night too.
This is between 9pm and 5am. Transport for London will install traffic sensors after. These sensors optimize traffic flow. They link traffic lights to TfL’s control room. Roads close in phases, and they will use diversions.
Side roads get temporary two-way access. This is for local vehicles. Closures include the Putney Bridge junction. Lower Richmond Road closes too. TfL will install sensors in early March.
This completes junction upgrades. The upgrades happened last year. The council made crossing easier; they also improved walking and cycling. Traffic flow is maintained as well. Traffic lights were upgraded.
There is a pedestrian countdown now. A detector cancels pedestrian demands. Cyclists can now cross early. This is before vehicle traffic starts. They removed some islands, and others were moved. Islands are now bigger.
People can cross easier, and a cycle lane keeps bikes separate. It goes up to the bridge. Jenny Yates spoke about the work. She said this improves Putney. The council works to improve flow.
Hammersmith Bridge remains closed. This impacts traffic. They invested in roads, and resurfacing makes them safer. The council got more bus services. The Green Man stop reopened.
Public transport is now easier. They work to further improve buses. The bus lane will change. It will be 7am to 7pm daily. This will speed up buses and bikes. Travel will be faster during peak times.
