Old Bridlington pub, plagued by disrepair, seeks new life as a 23-bedroom care home to address local need.

The company says Bridlington needs care homes because there aren’t enough good ones. Sandylane Residential Care Home recently closed, which supports their point.
The pub is quite old, built around 1900. It shut down and has sat empty, and the building is in bad shape right now. Documents show it has serious damp, damaged windows and doors, a lot of mould, and ceilings that have even fallen.
According to plans, the building is derelict, and vandalism is a problem there. Squatters and fly tipping happen frequently.
Exterior changes would be small so the building matches its neighbors. They will add a lift at the back to help people get to different floors. They also suggest more for the second floor; a balcony and conservatory would be built so residents can enjoy the coast views and provide extra outdoor space.
Most work will happen inside. Twenty-three bedrooms are planned on three floors: ground, first, and second. Two suites with living rooms will be in the loft.
The site already has twelve parking spots that they will keep at the back for staff and visitors.
