Hey, something is happening in Coleraine. People are worried about women’s safety. A public meeting will happen next week. Police will be there too.

Reports say women are followed often. Someone found a rucksack with concerning items inside: a mask, hammer, and cable ties. Condoms and a sex toy were also found, worrying many people.

Causeway Coast Women organized the meeting. Police and politicians will attend to discuss solutions together. Everyone wants to make things better.

The police have increased patrols already after the rucksack find. Politicians share women’s safety fears and are talking to the police. One politician contacted police, requesting actions to ensure safety. Another will work with community voices, including police and fellow politicians.

Another councillor spoke to police regarding the bag. Police confirmed they are taking it seriously and have increased patrols around Strand Road. They are actively investigating suspicious activity.

The public meeting will be on February 27 at 7 PM in the West Bann Development Centre. You can go to listen and share concerns.

They will discuss growing fears among women and what steps to take for self-protection. Self-defense tools and their legality will be reviewed. The police will also share an update at the event.

Police are investigating all leads related to the found bag. At this point, they have no suspects but want to identify the rucksack’s owner.
