Over 100 protest after a 16-year-old was stabbed in Bordesley Green, demanding action to stop knife crime.

The stabbing of the 16-year-old happened a day earlier. Disorder connected to this occurred at Heartlands Hospital. Protesters held signs, some reading “Stop the knife crime” and others “save child’s lives.” The group peacefully ended the protest later.
Locals say young people can get knives easily and think Birmingham is not doing enough. Mohammed Zafran spoke about the frequent stabbings and wants more youth centers from the government. He also wants stricter laws and better parenting.
Julian Nistor said people wore masks and stabbed someone. Abu Umaymah spoke about the impact on the community, stating murals and campaigns aren’t enough. He wants more investment in areas like Bordesley Green to help improve lives.
Police have cordoned off Pretoria Road as West Midlands Police are looking into hospital disorder. They think it’s linked to the Bordesley Green stabbing. A witness said a group of 30 to 40 “ambushed” the A&E.
The witness also said an ambulance got “raided” while someone was inside. These ambulance claims are unconfirmed presently. Police released a statement on Sunday, February 16, mentioning the stabbing on Saturday.
They said it happened on Pretoria Road, around 3:30 pm. A 16-year-old boy went to the hospital with serious injuries, but his state is now stable. An investigation intends to uncover the details.
