Remember that Pontins in Ainsdale, Merseyside? It’s near a closed pub and Toad Hall. Britannia Hotels has a long lease from the council, owning many hotels, even the Adelphi in Liverpool. The lease has about 130 years left.
Pontins was built way back in 1970 and used to be a popular spot for vacations. Lately, it wasn’t doing so well, and guests weren’t very happy with it.
They closed it last January, saying it wasn’t making enough money. This happened after flooding from Storm Henk. Two other Pontins locations, Camber Sands and Prestatyn, closed earlier.
The company hasn’t said anything for over a year, but there is still some hope for the site. The other closed locations might reopen, as they are working on redeveloping those other sites now.
Drone footage shows the abandoned park, with nature slowly taking over the old buildings. Moss grows on the roofs of the chalets, and you can still see tables and chairs inside.
