Police found no reason for charges in Polly Lindop’s death. The inquest is now delayed until June.

Polly Lindop died on March 13, 2023, within 24 hours of her birth at St Mary’s Hospital in Manchester.
Police looked into possible gross negligence manslaughter and spoke to hospital staff. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) stated that the hospital fully cooperated with them. The police investigation ended with GMP stating they won’t pursue charges.
Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust offered condolences to the family and noted the investigation closed with no action. The inquest was initially scheduled for March 3, 2025.
The inquest now has a new date and will start on June 9 of this year; the hearing should last five days. An expert report was submitted.
Polly’s parents attended the hearing and want the matter heard soon to learn what happened before Polly’s death.
Polly’s family, who live in Tameside, said they love and miss her, calling Polly their beautiful brave baby girl.
