Police are searching for Renaldo Roberts, 25, linked to a murder investigation in Hackney. Jason Romeo died after stabbing.
The murder investigation is ongoing, and three men face charges: Raynolph Asante, Travis Mitchell, and Rhamyah Bailey-Edwards. All three are charged with Romeo’s murder. Additionally, an 18-year-old man was arrested on February 23 on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
Police are now seeking Renaldo Roberts, aged 25, and have released his picture to the public for assistance. Detectives wish to speak with him regarding this case, as he has connections in Hackney and Dagenham.
Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen stated that the investigation has progressed rapidly, with four men arrested within five days. She emphasized the current need to speak with Renaldo Roberts and urged the public not to approach him directly. Instead, individuals should call 999 and reference CAD 5635/18FEB.
Following Jason Romeo’s death, Hackney police implemented extra powers, including increased stop and search measures this week. Officers were granted permission to utilize Section 60 over the weekend, allowing them to stop individuals without requiring reasonable suspicion.
Detective Superintendent Vicky Tunstall acknowledged that the increased police presence may cause concern among residents. She reassured the public that officers are patrolling the area more frequently and encouraged them to speak with officers about any concerns they may have.
Reducing knife crime is a high priority for the police, who are collaborating with other organizations to ensure Hackney’s safety. Tunstall urged individuals with information to come forward and report anyone who poses a potential threat, either through Crimestoppers or by contacting the police directly.
