Police investigate a North Shields home tied to Robert Scott Clive’s disappearance over 20 years ago.

Scott lived in a bedsit. His family in Scotland reported him missing when they had not heard from him for days. Police first treated Scott as missing. Later, they launched a murder probe despite finding no body.
Seven people were arrested at the time, but nobody was ever charged. In 2008, police reviewed the case. Divers searched the River Tyne that April after a witness saw a man like Scott by the river early on October 11, 2002.
The divers found nothing in the river. Police told Scott’s family they believed he fell in. Last summer, the case changed a lot when officers arrested a man, age 49, for murder.
He is out on bail now. Detectives want more information. They say they “are keeping an open mind.” Scott was last seen around 11 PM on October 10, 2002, near Coronation Street.
His family reported him missing, and police started a murder investigation, even though they never found his body. Police are unsure about the details of his disappearance, although people may have spotted him by the Tyne early next morning.
Officers reviewed CCTV footage and spoke to many witnesses. This helped piece together Scott’s last night. Last June, a man got arrested, but police released him later on bail. Now, police search the Coronation Street house that Scott visited that evening.
Officers seek any residents from 2002. They want to know if they saw Scott. People may know something important. Detective Inspector Mark Atherton leads the case and mentions Scott’s family, wanting answers for them.
Police are focusing on Coronation Street. They thank the current house resident and the wider community. The police urge anyone with information to contact them, because even small details could help a lot.
