Police Reassure Public After Nottingham Primark Stabbing Incident
The shop closed after a 17-year-old got stabbed around 11:30 AM on Sunday. The stabbing took place inside the Long Row Primark. Police said a fight happened outside Primark involving a group of young people, and a suspect then ran towards Old Market Square.
Paramedics helped the victim at the scene. He went to the hospital with serious injuries, but thankfully, these aren’t life-threatening. Police are aware of the incident’s impact and the alarm and distress it caused in the community.
They arrested a 16-year-old soon after. The 16-year-old was charged and held in custody and police can’t share more details for now to protect the investigation’s integrity.
The 16-year-old appeared in court on Monday charged with wounding and weapon possession. He received conditional bail until Wednesday.
The police want to ease safety worries by stating Nottingham is well-policed. Uniformed and plain-clothed officers patrol daily, and people who disrupt the city are arrested, especially those with weapons. Some serve long prison terms now, and the city uses lots of CCTV cameras.
The police have zero-tolerance for knives and take every report seriously. A dedicated team pursues weapon carriers and aims to make life difficult for them.
They also work with partners to reduce crime, prevent incidents, and deter young people. Knife crime ruins lives, they stressed.
Primark stated their thoughts were with everyone affected. They’re helping the police investigation and have no further comments.
