West Midlands Police will use new speed camera vans. These vans detect drugged or drunk drivers. They also catch drivers without seatbelts.

These vans can spot drivers from a mile away. Police revealed these high-tech vans recently. They see impaired drivers at a great distance. The vans also spot seatbelt and phone use.

Four new vehicles go to the West Midlands. They operate all day and night. Each van cost around £47,000. They have the latest technology aimed at stopping dangerous drivers.

The cameras take high-resolution images and catch phone use a mile distant. Officers say the cameras provide proof of drug or alcohol use.

Simon Foster approved van funding and allocated £188,000 for the four vans. Foster said speeding causes road crashes and that he and the police want to address this.

This investment helps catch speeders and will make roads safer for everyone. Dangerous driving has no place here, as too many innocent lives are lost already. The vans will improve road safety significantly.

The vans target the fatal four violations. They will catch speeding and impaired drivers, as well as those not wearing seatbelts or using their phones.

In 2023, 1,149 people were badly hurt on West Midlands roads, compared to 1,056 victims in 2022 and 932 in 2021.

The police now have eight speed vans. Their goal is to cut deaths by half by the year 2030.

Gareth Mason leads the Roads Policing Unit and says if you speed, police will catch you. The vans add a police presence in communities and target known speeding locations. Their message is clear: speeding is wrong.

More vans boost law enforcement efforts. Mason thanked Foster for the investment, emphasizing their shared commitment to reducing speeds.

Their aim is to change how people think. Drive safely and do not risk others’ lives.
