Merseyside Police are investigating racist abuse targeted at Abdoulaye Doucoure after the Merseyside derby.

Merseyside Police started an investigation, taking these reports seriously. The police urged people with info to come forward, as this info could help the investigation.
Chief Superintendent Doyle addressed the issue, stating that racist abuse won’t be tolerated. Police have prosecuted fans for racist abuse before, resulting in banning orders and criminal records for those fans.
Liverpool and Everton both spoke out, strongly condemning the abuse aimed at Doucoure. The clubs agreed this abuse is unacceptable and pledged to work with Merseyside Police. Both clubs want to identify those responsible.
They encouraged people to report online abuse to social media platforms. Social media must take responsibility and ban abusers, they said. Racism has no place anywhere.
Police ask for info via Twitter or Facebook, and you can also call 101. Crimestoppers takes anonymous reports at 0800 555 111. Stop Hate UK provides a confidential helpline at 0800 138 1625. Their website is www.stophateuk.org. They also have a reporting app, and police have third party reporting centers across Merseyside.
